Haydn Nelson Mass and Richard Blackford Pietà
Bournemouth Symphony Chorus are delighted to welcome Pacific Chorale to the stunning Salisbury Cathedral, one of Europe’s architectural gems, as part of their international tour. Pacific Chorale, founded in 1968, is a professional chorus performing in Costa Mesa, California and tours extensively, working in collaboration with choirs and orchestras across the world.
Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Pacific Chorale join forces with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to perform the magnificent Haydn Nelson Mass conducted by Robert Istad followed by the intensely beautiful Pietà by Richard Blackford performed by Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gavin Carr.
Pietà, the third major work composed by Richard Blackford for the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus won the prestigious Ivor Novello Composer Award in 2020 for the Choral Category. Pietà is a powerful setting of the Stabat Mater with additional poems by the Ukraine poet Anna Akhmatova.
